Many in the rock scene do drink heavily as I recall Slash of GNR
mentioning 15-so years ago that he drank a fifth of Jack Daniel's
daily. Not even 'clean' living will save one from death esp. with the
late River Phoenix being such an example.
One way recently that prevents me from ordering a few drinks with
any meal at a sit-down restaurant is noticing the ridiculous high
price of a mixed drink... or even $3 minimum for a beer like at say
the Brickskeller restaurant in D.C. near Georgetown where I went to
lunch about 3-so weeks ago... and probably won't be going again any
time soon. Got there about 12:15pm, was ID'ed (first time in a few
years) along with the other two people I was with, it took awhile for
them to take our drink (I ordered a German non-alcoholic beer... and
forget which one) and at the same time ordered the food and with us
being the only customers at the time, were lucky to get our food
around 12:40pm, meaning we had to wolf down our meals.
Maybe one drink a day is good esp. if one has eaten a good meal
beforehand or if the drink is a good wine which one sips on. In some
European countries, I've heard of missionaries/preachers, etc., having
a few beers but not in excess since in those countries, the beer is
much cleaner and healthier for oneself than the water.
My father who served in the military in early '60's in (then West)
Germany mentioned one time going into a local bar/restaurant and a
little boy comes in with a pail and says to the bartender 'pint of
beer, mistah' to which the bartender poured a pint.
There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'... and to Bon, 'Rock in Peace'...

Where do people get this misconception that Bon wuz in severe bad health
leading up to his death by misadventure?? I mean...how do you know his
heart and liver were fucked up big time?? Did he go for a physical back in
February of 1980?? He wuz a 33 year old boozer fronting a rock band....big
whoop. My grand mother is 88 freaking years old and still drinks like a
fish and smokes like a chimney but to this day she maintains a more active
social life than anyone I know (defies logic actually).
Everytime people mention Bon's last days they always say he would have died
anyways due to his severe bad health. Horsehockey!!!

uh...no its not bs. they did an autopsy on him ok? that's how they knew. I
don't care about your grandma but ask yourself this, would you want your
kids to grow up drinking like bon did? just cause some people don't get
effected as bad doesn't mean you should condone it.

Maybe?!?!? There's studies coming out every few months that say having 1-3
drinks a day is HEALTHIER than having ZERO drinks a day! (the studies also
say that having more than 5 drinks in a sitting is worse than 1-3 drinks a
day or having none)

I'm sure Bon did more than just drink, and who cares. Just because
someone dies of "alcohol poisoning" does not mean their organs (liver
etc.) were so messed up. People have vices dude, Bon's was drink & god
knows what else, so be it. I'm sure Bon could have gone on for many
years the way he did with the booze, he was only what 33 when he checked
out.

I don't think we'll be seeing Cam in here ever again. Can't say I blame him.

We do not know if a post-mortem was performed. There is substantial
evidence indicating there was an inquest. But as far as I can tell, there
is no direct evidence pointing to a post-mortem. There were media reports
suggesting there was an autopsy, but all of them referred to the information
contained in the death certificate, not a post-mortem. A post-mortem,
inquest and death certificate are all different things. People, including
members of the media, confuse each of these items.
I still have a standing offer available for anyone who is from the area of
Bon's death. I will pay any fees, charges or costs related to securing
copies of the report[s] from the inquest. This may include transcripts,
findings of fact and/or conclusions. It is improbable that the post-mortem
would be included with these documents, even if one was performed.
My own opinion is that most of these documents are not available anymore,
(except the death certificate). I am not sure if they ever were. All of
the media reports I have reviewed either confuse issues or are clearly
hearsay of the worst kind.
that's how they knew. I

The public image of Bon was certainly that of someone who overdid it. Was
that in fact the case? Probably. Especially considering the circumstances
surrounding his death. But based on the info we have, I think it is highly
improbable that his body had sustained serious damage prior to the night of
his death.

Yeah right. That was one the reasons I am not on Cam's Christmas card list
anymore. It is what it is. Sorry to those who were offended. Sometimes
it gets to the point where I have to call Bullshit. This was one over
several occassions where I had to. It is highly unfortunate.

Well Tom, if you will, tell Cam I am more than willing to clear the air.
If he doesn't want anything to do with it, so be it.
>Can't say I blame him.
It's unfortunate. Once again, if I'm wrong, I am willing to state the same
and withdraw my claim. If someone wants to review the information or show
me I'm wrong, please feel free to contact me. I will not hide anything.
I'd love to be wrong on this. I promise that I will behave if someone wants
to dig into this. No tricks.....
You know Tom, I was pretty offended by several things that went down. When
it gets to a point where I feel someone is abusing my trust, I don't have a
choice but to call someone's bluff. I shouldn't have to do it, especially
to him. But circumstances dictated it.
You have/had your own issues with me. That's fine. I don't take it
personally, even if you do/have. That is each person's choice. But almost
without exception, I have left you alone unless you proffered controversial
subjects. Your little forays into politics being the best example. Most of
the oldbees know what subjects are going to stir up certain subsets of this
NG. Everyone here, including myself, assumes the risk whenever we hit
"send."
I have said plenty of things here that were unnecessarily inflammatory. And
I have been scolded for it. It's the name of the game. I've learned. But
hey, I don't make it a habit of flaming or scolding newbees, or anyone else.
Flaming is not my thing -- I'm not good at, and never will be.
However, the oldbees know that on certain subjects, I am going to prod them
point by point and on accuracy. And I expect the same in return. Some
people take offense to it, and that is fine. Arguments are beautiful things
when done well (TV and NP). Personal cracks are funny when done to the
right person at the right time (see SFTM). However, admittedly, that has
not always been the case here.
Calling someone out is not as funny as it is sad. But sometimes, I think it
is necessary. I do not believe it is good practice to allow personal
feeling to get in the way of verifiable facts, no matter how much it sucks.
I know that some people wish these things wouldn't happen, but they do.
