Comparing the films of the 90's to the 70's or even to the 80's would not find a long list of mind blowing films. Much the same could be said if you compared the bands of those eras.

That being said, I think some of the 90's bands (and 80's bands who's influence progressed into the next decade) made some memorable music.
Radiohead, Sonic Youth, Bjork, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Kyuss, Fugazi, The Pixies, Nirvana to name a few.
