What is involved in singing country music - 03-08-2007, 05:08 PM

professionally? I want to be a country singer, and i'm willing to work to get there, i just don't know how to go about it. I'm 19 years old with a very deep voice. I have trouble distinguishing one note from another and i know how to read music but i'm not very good at it. I've never done any really serious singing other than along with the radio, and i can't play the guitar. What would be the next couple steps, keep in mind that i really don't know what's out there so any suggestions would be helpfull.

The best way to learn to sing is to find songs that you like that are simple and uncluttered and then just sing along until you start to hear the next note and also get the muscle memory in your throat/mouth/vocal cords to precisely hit that note.

Getting some advice from a teacher can't hurt, either, since there are good ways and bad ways to sing in terms of preserving your voice (avoiding nodes on your vocal cords).
