Latest Greatest Hits - 02-22-2007, 04:42 PM

The latest greatest hits album is mentioned in the news today at
eltonjohn.com. I like the album cover! Now that the album cover is
released, why buy the album? Maybe it will have special stuff included
with it.

It will have 18 songs but "Tiny Dancer" is the only song mentioned so
far. Interestingly, "Tiny Dancer" did not chart very high in the 70's.
But, an "almost famous" movie helped get it more exposure.

Do we REALLY need another greatest hits album?

And if you want different versions, there will be released a Norwegian
version. We got a few days to vote for favorite songs. Eltons wish was that
Tinderbox would be included, and not The Candle.../Diana song. This will
also include 18 songs + a Norwegian Flag at the front!

My guess is this was completely a record company decision in order to
fulfill his obligation to them. Elton mentioned they were parting ways
so this is probably the final CD in their contract with him. I would
almost rather Elton do like Prince and try to have a go of it on his
own. You know, years back, there was a rumor of Elton and Paul
McCartney starting their own label. Of course the logistics of
distribution would be the biggest factor.

Sounds like the Norwegian version MIGHT be the one to have. If
theres truly a few surprises on it.
No doubt this is a contract obligation. Its not Eltons idea.

Here is the billboard link:

http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/searc..._id=1003548291

I count only 17 songs instead of 18. It looks like the only songs
excluded from the original Greatest Hits in the 70's are "Border Song"
and "Honky Cat".
