John Lennon: A Drummer Should Be Heard And Not Seen
A long-lost interview with The Beatles uncovered in a garage in South London has John Lennon giving some useful advice to lonely drummers playing at the back of the stage everywhere.
The 43 year-old cassette contains the audio of an interview the Fab Four gave to Scottish TV (STV) way back in 1964.
Beatles drummer Ringo Starr was asked if he ever got lonely at the back watching his band mates perform and enjoy much of the adulation of adoring fans.
Starr explained: "I'm lucky being at the back, the other three have it worse than I do. That's where I am – a drummer should always be at the back."
That's when Lennon quickly jumps in with his joking remarks: "A drummer should be heard and not seen."
