Evenflow - 02-13-2007, 06:06 AM

This was the last song I listened for my compilation.... 14 versions!

Trivia question:

Which show was the only show all tour (all 4 legs), where they didn't
play this song?

After listening to so many versions back to back, a pattern emerged...
sometimes Mike is really on, and just lets loose, and Stone plays rhythm
quietly. In others, Stone plays little riffs, changing all the time,
and there is a lot of playing off each other, but Mike is not as wild.

Which kind of Evenflow do you like? I prefer the playing off each other
versions.

Laurie

I like when I can hear Stone more. I prefer old style, I didnt mind the
Matt solo style this tour although seeing it every night makes it grow
old quickly (yes i know his solo's are never the same but still).
I'd have to go back and listen to shows from every tour to really pick
my favourite now as I've kind of forgotten how they used to play it.

As for the trivia, I can't pick it off the top of my head.. and Im not
going to cheat

I prefer the live version from the video. Old school all the way.

What I don't like about the new Evenflow is that the drum solo is
basically a smoke break.

Ed always took a smoke break as soon as he says, "Mike McCready"... It
sickens me to see him treat his instrument that way. And now he has a
daughter to think about. My mom is struggling with heart disease,
emphysema, lung cancer was just found, and she quit smoking 10 years ago
after smoking for 50 years... the damage he is doing right now may have
already caused these problems for him 20 years down the road when his
daughter will still be very young. The least he can do is smoke
off-stage, so young fans won't think it's cool.

I remember when Touring Band 2000 came out, and he did that little flip
thing into his mouth with a fag, and there were several kids in here
saying how cool that was.

If McCready can get sober, why is Ed so weak?

I'm afraid he doesn't read this newsgroup. I can't wait to speak to him
about this!
I wish your mother well! My father survived many years of severe lung
diseases so it's not always the end (yet)....

They say nicotine is harder to quit than heroin. I don't know about that
since I've never been addicted to heroin. But I was addicted to nicotine
and I can say from experience that that little demon doesn't like to let go.
Took a long time and many attempts for me to finally quit. It's been 4
years for me, after about 15 years or so of smoking. And I'm still probably
only one cigarette away from smoking a pack a day.

No one said it was easy. But if my mom could quit after smoking 50
years, it can be done. I think that you can't "quit" smoking. You have
to *want* freedom of smoking, freedom from addiction. If you can put it
into positive terms as something you *want*, then it is achievable. I
don't get it, it just doesn't fit in with Ed's healthy lifestyle.

I'm totally against smoking too, never started myself and never will. I
also want my mother to quit (she did quit for a couple of years then
started again).
I agree that once you have kids things should definitely change.
But does he only smoke a few on stage and thats it, or does he smoke all
the time?
Alot of people will have a casual cigarette or two when they go out
drinking, but don't touch them any other time.
I'm just wondering if Ed has "quit" in his regular life but likes to
enjoy a couple on stage with his wine.

Well, it's in the liner notes of Ten but not on what song, and I recall it
was used on master/slave.
